This cycle of studies aims to train professionals with fundamental skills in Basic Education, considered in a set of domains of mediation and dynamization of groups, individuals and communities, in a comprehensive framework capable of providing answers to the complex problems that arise in today's society. and in a globalized world. The objective is to train professionals capable of mastering the scientific, humanistic, artistic, social and cultural content necessary for the exercise of their function, through the development of the skills necessary for their personal and professional success and the success of the groups with whom they work. come to work. Students, at the end of the CE, should be able to: demonstrate knowledge, skills and competences in the field of Education, which reveal conditions that allow them to continue to the 2nd cycle of studies. Mobilize knowledge, skills and competencies in the educational field relevant to quality performance in action in diverse educational contexts and audiences of different age groups. Design, develop and evaluate teaching-learning units based on analytical and critical capacity. Practice a permanent investigative attitude supported by knowledge and methodological adaptation to diverse contexts. Develop basic training in the area of teaching, solid and structured, based on the acquisition of knowledge from the various areas of knowledge involved in Education. Substantiate pedagogical options based on the contextualization of ethical, civic, cultural and scientific dimensions, projecting the educational success of the groups with which you work.

Coordination : Prof. Doctor Marlene Barra
Marlene Barra has a degree in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Methodology and Supervision in Early Childhood and Basic Education, a Master's degree in Sociology of Childhood and a PhD in Child Studies from the University of Minho. As a scientific technical consultant, she contributes to several international projects with UNICEF, the World Bank, Portuguese Cooperation, among others - especially in Portuguese-speaking countries (São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, Guinea-Bissau and Timor-Leste). She is a collaborating researcher at the Child Studies Research Center, focusing on the situation of Children in peripheral countries at the intersection of Child Studies and Post-colonial Studies. In capacity development activities, scientific and technological training and teaching in higher education, the global professional objective is to improve services, programs and policies aimed at children and their families.
