The Professional Higher Technical Course in Children and Young People Monitoring aims to prepare students to support, guide and supervise children and young people, in diverse educational and social contexts, with a view to promoting well-being, the acquisition and development of skills and citizenship .

| Learning Objectives
Professionals with the Child and Youth Support course are prepared to support, guide and supervise children and young people, in diverse educational and social contexts, with a view to promoting well-being, acquisition and development of skills and citizenship.
At the end of this course the student aims to be able to:
Plan educational, recreational, extracurricular and free-time activities especially aimed at the personal and social development of children and young people.
Carry out diagnostic and continuous assessment of cognitive, socio-affective and psychomotor development needs with the involvement of different educational agents with responsibilities in education.
Promote, supervise and evaluate the impact of interactions and interpersonal relationships established between members of the institution of families, children and young people.
Plan, implement and evaluate projects to support children and young people.
Design, produce and develop educational resources to support children and young people.
Integrate multidisciplinary teams with functions aimed at supporting children and young people.
Promote the global well-being and personal and social development of children and young people.
| Professional Opportunities
Senior Technicians in Monitoring Children and Young People may carry out professional duties in different institutions, namely: Social and Community Centers; Municipal Chambers; Parish Councils; School Groups; Private Social Solidarity Institutions; Free Time Activity Centers; Entertainment Activities and Family Support Component Sections; Social, Cultural, Sports and Recreational Associations, among others

Coordination: Professor Marlene Barra
Marlene Barra has a degree in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Methodology and Supervision in Early Childhood and Basic Education, a Master's degree in Sociology of Childhood and a PhD in Child Studies from the University of Minho. As a scientific technical consultant, she contributes to several international projects with UNICEF, the World Bank, Portuguese Cooperation, among others - especially in Portuguese-speaking countries (São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, Guinea-Bissau and Timor-Leste). She is a collaborating researcher at the Child Studies Research Center, focusing on the situation of Children in peripheral countries at the intersection of Child Studies and Post-colonial Studies. In capacity development activities, scientific and technological training and teaching in higher education, the global professional objective is to improve services, programs and policies aimed at children and their families.
