ISCE Douro hosted the 1st International Meeting of Social Educators around the World – Intervention Perspectives

The 1st International Meeting of Social Educators around the World – Intervention Perspectives took place on April 28th, an event that brought several national and international experts to Penafiel to reflect on intervention in social education in different contexts.

The event began with the official opening session of the Meeting, a moment that was attended by several personalities, highlighting, among them, the President of ISCE Douro, Prof. Doctor Edgar Bernardo, the Councilor for Education at the Penafiel City Council, Dr. Rodrigo Lopes, the President of the Parish Council of Penafiel, Dr. Carlos Barbosa and the Coordinator of the Degree in Social Education at ISCE Douro, Prof. Doctor Cátia Vaz.

The work then continued with moderations and communications organized into five panels.

These panels were attended by national Social Educators Dr. Raquel Antunes; Dr. Dário Gomes, Dr. Sandra Afonso, Prof. Doctor Helena Carvalho, Prof. Doctor Mara Silva, Dr. Ruben Amorim, but also international ones, including Prof. Doctor Deibe Fernández-Simo, member of the CEESG Board of Directors, Doctor in Social Education and Professor of Social Education at the University of Vigo, Dr. Marta Romero, Social Educator in Sahara, Dr. Luciana Christoforidou, a Social Educator in Greece and also Dr. Ester Di Palo, Social Educator in Italy.

With the 1st International Meeting, ISCE Douro promoted sharing, learning and reflections on intervention perspectives around the world, a world where social problems are increasingly emerging and the role of the social educator can make a difference.
